SEALED POT WEEK 15-QUIET BUT I'M MAKING TRAVEL PLANS

Hi Everyone!

TRAVEL PLANS
My family are going through some tough times at the moment. 2 things have happened recently and won't get better. So it's been time for a lot of personal reflection. One of my conclusions has been to be more pro-active with my travel  plans which due to circumstances I should be able to afford.

At 42, I'm not getting any younger and it is very easy to just 'settle' for less in my life. But my dreams have always been travel related so I've given myself a kick and decided to make some plans.
You'll see I've added Russia and Morocco to my list.

Google Images

Russia would be a trip (just over a week) visiting mainly St. Petersburg and Moscow

Google Images

Morocco would be a 5 day trip into the Sahara-sleeping under the stars.

I would go on my own and meet up with a group for both (although a couple of friends have expressed an interest in Morocco-but I don't mind if they don't come).

In April we leave for a trip to Japan-that will be the 50 country I've travelled to.

Google Images

Counting countries isn't always a good thing. For me it's a by product. I think what you see and do counts more and I am happy to return and see more of a great country.

HEPTAGONAL CHALLENGE:

Poster preview

A great week for the special pot:
3 x 50ps
9 x 20ps

MY SEALED POT WEEK

A very quiet week for the pot:

SAVED MONEY: £1.17 from yellow stickered bread

FREE EGGS: 27p from being 2 free eggs from our neighbours.

NO SUGAR AND LOW ALCHOHOL CHALLENGE
Still remaining sugar free! Another £2 has been added to my purse.
I did have a small glass of wine the other day, but yes it was an occasion so I'm happy with that.

HOW WAS YOUR SEALED POT WEEK?

  1. I am so sorry that you continue to have a difficult time. Love to you all.

My pots have been fed almost every day. Yesterday, Sunday, I donated my silver pot to a church building fund. It weighed around 2.2 kilos. My gold coin tin feels light in comparison.

I look forward to reading about everyone and about the week they had.

    1. Thanks Suze, you are such a love.
Great news about your pots being fed and particularly about that wonderful donation to your church. I bet that felt wonderful! I wonder how much was in there?
I hope your gold tin becomes just as heavy :)
Sounds like everyone has had a good week 15!

  2. I am very sad to learn that your family issues are longer term and will not improve. We are all thinking of you and supporting you in spirit, just hope you can feel us.
My SP week was quiet too; we have been setting up at our Summer (work) campsite, and after a lovely day with the grandchildren on Monday (not very frugal) this has really been the focus this week. To be honest I don't think I have noted anything down since last Sunday, but I think a couple of hexi's have been added to the pot along with some very small coins. Oh yes, we got the payment through for the surplus DVDs we sent along to Music Magpie so I transferred £18 to the online SP account - thank goodness for that!! Must try harder this week!! Much love, Alison X

    1. Thanks Alison. It has helped me ask myself WHAT AM I WAITING FOR? If I can do it (physically/financially) then I SHOULD DO IT! I am so grateful for everyone's support.
I am so glad that your work plans are coming together and that you have spent precious time with your grandchildren.
Hope week 16 has gone well for you. I've had a few quiet weeks but I'm back in the zone now.

  4. Hello dear SFT

So sorry to hear that you are still having difficult times in your family, and yes there is nothing like something serious happening that makes you think of things differently. I send you lots of hugs and good vibes from across the miles :)

I love the idea of your extra trips, they sound totally awesome!

Not a lot happening with my pot again but that's okay, whatever goes in is better than nothing!

Some more success with my 50c pieces and even have Roge trained to hand his over now as well. Won't be long and we'll be able to treat ourselves to a meal out. Our favourite café changed hands late last year which is good for us as we are now able to venture out and try different places without the same feeling of disloyalty we would have had for the old owner!

    Take care dear SFT xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    1. Hi Judy
I knew you'd understand how my family situation has made me focus my mind. I can feel your hugs and vibes and they are so appreciated!

The extra trips are being booked up this week.

Any little addition to the pot helps doesn't it?

Those 50c will be adding up nicely for you. Your meal will taste blissful!

  5. I am so sorry that life is not the greatest at the moment with you and completely agree, one at a certain point needs to live more in the moment. Morocco is on my list in the next five years, perhaps on a combination with Spain. Hubby and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary next September (2015) and I said to him we need to coincide next years trip with that date. Funny, not even off on my big trip to Europe and already scheming the next one. $2 in rolled nickels into the pot this week for our weekends away sealed pot. Hugs!

    1. Hi CC,

Thanks for your wonderful support! It means a great deal.
How long before your big trip?
Spain and Morocco would be amazing. You will love it, I'm sure-maybe the one for you 10th anniversary?
I always like to plan my next trip-you and I are so similar :)
Glad you are still adding lots to your pot.

  6. I'm sending you warm hugs & wishes in the hope that they will help you through your tough times just a little. There's nothing like a major event to make you re-evaluate things and to make you re-focus on what is really important to you. I'm excited to read of you have planned extra trips. Morocco looks like soooo much fun and of course Russia will be interesting too. Glad you are still sticking to your savings targets and sometimes the routine of some of the simple things in life help to keep you 'together' when the curve ball strikes.

I threw a whole lot of silver coins in my tin today as I was dusting the husbands dresser but apart from that I'm still in spend mode which is good & bad!

    Take care.

Thanks and also for your email-which I will be replying to.
You are always so wonderfully supportive.
A re-evaluation is certainly what I've been through.

Good to hear you are feeding your pot and having fun too.

  7. Thinking of you Sft and hoping things get better soon. Being proactive and going for what you want is so wonderful. Russia and Morocco...wow! I cannot wait to see your pics from there :-) (Nothing like living vicariously through someone lol!) Anyway, no saving for me this week - everything on cash back credit card. I am hoping that I'll get a really large tax refund this year and be able to drop a bundle in the sealed pot. (It's my first full year with a mortgage and property taxes so fingers crossed...) ~ Pru

  8. Hoping things are looking up for you now. Sending love and hugs. Some saving for me this week, but mostly out of my purse at the end of the week, although I also managed to sell a small item on ebay so another £2.50 to add as well.

  9. Sorry to hear things are still tough on the family front for you and look like continuing to remain that way. How lovely though that you are being positive and pro-active in planning and doing what you love.

You have worked so hard to be able to afford to do this and it's only right that you take the time for yourself to make these plans and then see them through. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

As for my Sealed Pot, well somehow it's done quite well this week, only dribs and drabs but they all add up in the long run .... thank goodness :-)

    Take care. xx

  10. I am so sorry to read that things are not going well for you and your family. You are doing the right thing and focusing on some treats, I havent been to Moscow, but have to Morocco. It is awesome. My sealed pot has been growing steadily and I will need a new one very soon, Havent been visiting because I havent been blogging much as I have had hazzles with Trolls and a couple of weeks ago decided to create a new blog under an alias - Zana Homemade. Oh I was Shaz of Dirt under my fingernails. Hope the change will give me some peace from the troll. Anyway take care and hugs.

  12. Continued hugs and good thoughts. No addition to the pot this week but took on two more knitting commission jobs so the pot will be fed again soon. Off to the city four hours one way this week with the Invisible Husband to see a poem by MDS performed by a professional theatre company. He is very excited.

  13. Sorry to hear you have family troubles; but things like that can really focus the mind and I admire you for deciding to increase your travel plans. I'm still adding bit by bit to my 2 sealed pots (one for £2 and 50p coins and the other for 20ps and 5ps). Some weeks I seem to be feeding them at the end of every day with coins from purse, and others I either need to spend my change or there just aren't many coins of the right denominations to add. However, both pots are getting heavier and since I started the challenge earlier this year I'm really excited to see how much it will add up to when they're opened. Hugs to help you through your trying time, love Helen x

  14. (((((Big Hug))))) for SFT. Planning things will give you some control of what can be controlled. (I hope that makes sense)

just pocket change for the pot.

    no presents.

I have been throwing all my loose change (not that its a lot) into the pot, it feels really heavy now which really encourages me to save more
