SEALED POT MONDAY-WEEK 17-SORRY I'M LATE! HAD A LOVELY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AWAY.

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the lateness of this post. Mr Sft and I have been away for the weekend, celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in a blissful bed and breakfast. Our room was so pretty and our hostess left a tiny vase of primroses on the dressing table. We had gorgeous Molton Brown products in the bathroom too. There was a  gorgeous lounge with open fire to snuggle up in-which we did with our bottle of champagne on Saturday night. The breakfasts were amazing-I enjoyed the homemade granola with yoghurt, followed by smoked salmon and scrambled egg. And the cost was very reasonable too-£75 for both of us per night!

Highwoods Farm B and B

It was good to get away and spend time with Mr Sft.

We have been doing a bit of spending, getting ready for Japan. We leave on Sunday.

MY SEALED POT WEEK:

£2-SAVED NOT SPENT-On Friday I avoided buying sandwiches from the shops and ate at home instead.

£10-SAVED NOT SPENT-Could have gone for a meal out but spent the evening with Mr Sft as it was the actual day of our anniversary. We had a lovely home cooked meal instead.

HEXAGONAL CHALLENGE:

5 X 50ps

4 X 20ps

NO SUGAR CHALLENGE
Continues to go well. I did drink champagne for our anniversary but that does count as a special occasion.

HOW WAS YOUR SEALED POT WEEK?

  1. Glad you had a lovely weekend away, it is sometimes good to spoil yourself.
Quiet on the financial front, back to cash for shopping so more change going into the pot. I found 5p during the week and banked our 'budget underspend' from March (mainly due to holidays) which came in around £78 so doing ok but nothing outstanding. I have continued to add 50ps and 20ps to a separate pot - had to reduce bulk and have counted out at least £20 worth of 50ps already, so will 'bank those too. I hope we are not losing inspiration - it is a long way to go until the beginning of December - maybe we need a challenge??

    1. We really needed our weekend away and felt totally spoiled!

Great news that you came underbudget in March! Those heptagonals soon mount up too-ours are in a sealed tin so we won't open until it's full.

I know what you mean about inspiration. I'll give the challenge some thought whilst I'm away.

  2. It is wonderful that you were able to steal a weekend away. It is so important to celebrate milestones and special days.

I keep adding coins to my pots. Sometimes it is as little as five cents. But every bit counts.

I am looking forward to hearing your Japanese stories. Easter is Japan may well be very different. One of my friends found Santa on a cross and years later it is still one of her stories.

    1. The 5 years have gone so fast and it was important to celebrate it.

All those little additions will add up in your pot!

We will return on Easter Saturday but we still hope to spot a sign of Easter just for you Suze, I feel you have set me a challenge.

  3. Happy Anniversary to you both. Sounds like a lovely weekend away. Safe travels and loads of fun wishes for you both in Japan.
I got paid $100 US for a baby blanket so most of that will go in the pot. I need some of it to post the blanket. I returned a couple of items from March's budget so added $65 CDN to the pot as well.

  5. Hi SFT

Happy anniversary to you both :) Sounds like a lovely weekend break away!

Not much in the pot, just a few coins. We are on a mission to pay down the credit card so that's taking any spare funds

    xx

  6. Ohhhh, the B & B looks lovely!
For my sealed pot, I had another $4 in saved not spent (Missed the pool again last week, shame on me!) plus a whole whopping big DIME I found at the bottom of my purse. :D But I also have my travel savings account and that got $25 added this week: $20 from money saved by shopping at a grocery outlet store and a $5 store gift card for buying two bottles of antacids. Not as good as last week, but I am still pleased.

  7. Happy Anniversary!! What a wonderful way to spend the weekend. Japan already? I hope you have a terrific time. Relax, enjoy, soak up the culture and time away together.

I've set aside my £50 weekly savings, but that's going to have to take a back seat for now (after this week). I'm not working at the moment, so I suppose not spending is my focus at this point. I'm still setting aside my coins, however, and have a few pounds there as well, so that's something.

    Safe travels!!

  9. Congratulations on your anniversary! Good on you for heading off for the weekend to celebrate. I'm still waiting on our 21st anniversary dinner from last September, so I'm a tad envious :-) We will still have that dinner, just gotta make it work....... This weeks savings are really good and I feel like I've found my rhythm again but mid semester break is fast approaching which means an extra mouth to feed & we are also off tramping again which will have travel costs like accommodation and meals out before and after the tramp.

Enjoy Japan! I really look forward to learning about your travels when you return.

  11. I am still plodding along with my pots, this time round Bob thought we should put notes in one and coins in the other,I don't think that will be as exciting but we are doing it his way lol. Most days I get to put a coin or two in but not so many notes,we only go to the shops once a week living in a small community and I always forget to get money for my wallet so therefor don't spend it lol I guess it is being saved one way or the other.
