We walked fast for 30 minutes and then at medium pace for another 40 minutes (and had a chance to take some nice photos). It was quite muddy at the start/end and quite easy walking down towards the estuary.
We were happy to have exercised and appreciated our surroundings.
Lots to see. We saw:
Lots of barges and sailing boats
Mallard Ducks (Male and Female), Mute Swans, Moorhens, Turnstones and I think Greenshanks.
We saw a few nice places to stop at in future-2 pubs (The Ship Inn, The Jolly Sailor) and a nice Tiptree Tea Room (which was really busy).
I hope you enjoy the photos!
How is your walking going?
Where do you like to walk?

That looks a lovely place to walk and the photos are fab.
ReplyDeleteI walk around 14 miles a week and few walks are on a coastal path or the beach with a nice cafe for coffee at half way-)
Hi Welsh Poppy,
DeleteGlad you like the photos.
I am impressed with how much you walk. You lucky thing being able to walk on coastal paths and the beach.

Lovely photos, it looks like a really nice walk =) . I'm a little bit scared of swans so close up!
ReplyDeleteBeaches are my favourite place to walk, but really I'll go anywhere. Forests, hills, rivers, moors and city streets - as long as there's plenty to see and explore, I'm happy!
Hi Lonestarsky,
DeleteIt was a nice walk.
I don't mind swans, but they can get quite nasty close up.
I love your choice of walking places. I too like plenty to see.

Lovely pics, I walk my dogs around our village daily but most of my walking this time of year is at work. I am a cook in a deli factory and spend 6-7 hours walking from A to B to C etc round a large "kitchen". I fetch and carry, stir BIG pots, push racks of stuff into industrial ovens and so on. The remainder of my walking is from cutting mat to ironing board to sewing machine and back to ironing board, rinse and repeat. I try to run up my stairs at least 5 times a day( out of focus memory means it is nearer 25) In spring and summer it will be in the garden and along our local beaches, or do I mean IF spring and summer.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam,
DeleteDogs are such a great excuse for a good walk.
You sound like you have a very physical job to keep you fit.
Can't wait for the Spring and Summer.
Sft x
My walking is pretty pitiful at the moment!!
ReplyDeleteRound the paddock with the dogs twice a day, once picking up the milk on the way back and in the afternoon collecting the post from the mailbox.
The path for our usual weekend walk along the banks of the Thames is currently IN the Thames due to flooding, so this means all the fields around are completely waterlogged and having 2 dogs with 6 inch legs means they get very cold very quickly if walking in boggy fields.
Roll on some dry weather.
Your walk looks wonderful a bit of everything to see, the boat 'India' is lovely and the swans are completely gorgeous, so very elegant.
Sue xx
Hi Sue,
DeleteIt is hard to find pretty places to walk at this time of the year. Sorry to hear about your usual walk being waterlogged.
I am so looking forward to the dry weather too.
Glad you enjoyed the photos.
Sft x
That looks like a fabulous walk, I loved the photos. We're sticking to drier places for our walks at the moment as it's just too boggy to go through fields and woods with Archie, he ends up covered in mud and needing a bath.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo,
DeleteIt is probably a place we will return to as it's not to messy to walk on.
I totally see your point of view, I'm looking forward to some nice Spring weather.
Sft x
I must admit walking is not happening as much as it should. We have to drive a fair distance to do a pretty walk. However in this heat even that is not so appealing. I love the pictures of your walk.
ReplyDeleteI don't expect you'll walk much in that heat!
DeleteGlad you like the pictures.

You can add a Redshank to your birds seen, too!
ReplyDeleteMy walking is currently mostly after work whilst waiting to collect MrEH before heading home, and is just round the streets. Very dull, but kills some time and gives me a bit of exercise!
Hi Robyn,
DeleteI wasn't sure if it was a Greenshank as it didn't have red legs or red on its bill?
You do well with your walking, I admire you.
Sft x
Great photos Sft!
ReplyDeleteWe love coastal walks at home & when we're away, we love getting into forests or wherever possible - mountains... Cities too, anywhere really!
K&S :)
Mr Sft loves forests and woods too.
DeleteAnd we both love the coast. You are so lucky where you live.
Sft x
Love your photos, what an excellent walk. My walking is on a break ATM but hope to get back into it soon. I have two routes, mostly around the block which is about 7km or up and over our farm track. Have another tramp coming up in April which I will need to do some prep for. Sx
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra,
DeleteI've enjoyed your walking posts in the past.
Looking forward to hearing more about your tramp in April.
Sft x
Love that walk. I love to walk by the sea but can only do that every few years. In the winter I am on the treadmill and in the summer I walk our fields.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the walk.
DeleteWe love walking by the sea too but it is about 45mins away. We have fields close by. Rivers and forests a bit further away.
Not sure if I could keep going on the treadmill. You are very good.

I think we are going to be a bit busy with wedding organisation over the next few weeks to fit in much walking, but there are some great places to walk every near us in Northampton. When we had the car back in 2011, we used it to travel to the far side of the county to take in some of the pub walks in this book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1846740843/?tag=hydra0b-21&hvadid=9557943669&ref=asc_df_1846740843
ReplyDeleteSubch poetical descriptions... "Enter the meadow where you will see larks ascending" - and do you know, they were?!
Good luck with your wedding prep.
DeleteWe too have pub walk books. Sometimes they didn't work out as planned.
Seeing skylarks ascending is one of Mr Sft's favourite things of all.

Hi SFT, have walked most days! Your walk looks great, love the pink house :)
ReplyDeleteToday we walked by the river which is my favourite walk, it's so peaceful (well most of the time, especially when the jet skis aren't out, which they usually aren't at 7 am!). I would love to live along there but of course anything with a water view costs a fortune! And we love our home so moving is out of the question. Sometimes we walk around the dirt road by the fields (not that they are very green in this hot summer) - we are semi rural so we do have some back roads to walk which is nice.
Judy xx
You are lucky to walk most days. Especially along a peaceful river.
DeleteGlad you like our walk. We DIDN'T like the pink house, and were trying to leave it out of the photo :0
There aren't many houses along that river-i think they are redeveloping part too.
We have some nice walks near our cottage. Just looking forward to the weather improving and the days to grow longer.
Sft x
Great to be able to follow you on these walks. Is this place close by, if so it's a really nice area to have.
ReplyDeleteI got out last evening. Hopefully again tonight. Sorry to brag, but it's been so lovely out here.
