About Me

My Photo
My blog is about our life after MORTGAGE FREEDOM (achieved Oct 2012), saving hard for TRAVEL EXPERIENCES and EARLY RETIREMENT from my job as a teacher. I also have an ULTIMATE LIFE LIST (which works like a Bucket List)of dream travel destinations and experiences. Please leave a comment if you can. I love reading them! A little about me! I am so grateful for the life I’ve been given. I don’t need ‘things’ to be happy. I appreciate my family, friends and the value of experiences over the materialistic. By respecting the power of money and using it wisely we have had a beautiful, simple wedding and bought a tiny cottage with some land overlooking fields. We try to live simply and appreciate the beauty of the nature around us. But we have an adventurous side too. I met Mr SFT whilst travelling in Cambodia. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!

WHAT IS SEALED POT SUNDAY?

PLEASE JOIN US FOR SEALED POT SUNDAY!!

Have you been emptying your purse each week into your pot?

Have you found a coin down the back of the sofa and fed your pot?

Have you been putting in all your £2 coins or Loonies or Gold Coins in?

Have you 'saved and not spent'-not having that coffee has meant more for the pot?

Please pop along EVERY SUNDAY and share your week with the other GLOBAL SEALED POT CHALLENGERS. It's a chance to get to know and support each other! Maybe pick up an idea or two? And keep the momentum going-we have 34 more weeks to go until we open our pots together.

SNOWY DAY-love it or loathe it?

Our little cottage in the snow.

The Lane outside our cottage.

Fields down the lane.

The view from our back window. You can see the snow on our Summer House and the fields beyond.

The view from our front window. You can see the horse box in the paddock.

Have you 'enjoyed' the snow or had enough?

Our cottage does look pretty, nice to see it in different seasons.

Especially with the wood burner on!

  3. I enjoy it for the first few days - then I am quite happy for it to disappear, preferably missing out the slushy stage! My kids however, have different ideas and would hang on to it for weeks given half a chance.

    1. I think I feel the same. Our school was open and 17 out of 20 children arrived! So a pretty good day, if just a few come it's more of a bother.

It was lovely seeing the pupils have fun in the snow but they are quite excited by it.

Our drive to school today was good but it hasn't frozen yet. Last time it snowed our 20 minute drive took 2 and a half hours!

    2. On average I would say it snows once every 5 years, having said that back in 2011 we had two falls. We are too coastal for snow here. Sx

  6. We haven't had an awful lot just a few sprinkles that quickly disappear. It's really cold here though.
I like to see snow covering everything but hate it when it turns to ice and makes driving and walking treacherous.

    1. Well Marjorie, we have been slightly more organised for the snow this time so that's good but some parts of the country have had over 1 foot of snow and it's really bad.

  18. Your cottage & views look very pretty! I love the snow to look at & go sledging in... We had an amazing snowy holiday in Bavaria some years ago - huge amounts of snow, but regularly cleared roads & fantastic sledging!

We haven't had any snow for a couple of years here... Probably the only place in the UK that hasn't - even the rest of Cornwall seems to have had a little today! We just continue to get torrential showers at the moment & have even had a terrific thunder storm tonight - which seems strange - as it's freezing out there...

Enjoy it while it lasts & keep warm!

I'm not a fan of snowy holidays as I don't like the cold. But when I read about people's experiences they always sound amazing.

Cornwall doesn't get a lot of snow does it? Sorry to hear that you are having such rainy weather at the mo. Hope it improves.

There is only a dusting of snow here, you have more than I do, which is very unusual. At the present time we are in a cold snap that is suppose to last most of this week, at the time of blogging, 6.20p.m. temp is
    -11*C.
    Keep warm.

  28. Lovely photos, your little cottage looks wonderful whenever I see photos of it, but especially so covered in snow. Our school was closed yesterday and is again today, though Daniel has A level exams the rest of the week so he'll have to go in come what may. I'm not a lover of snow, it's ok if you have nowhere to go and can watch it fall from the warm, cosy house, but I hate being cold and it's not very nice once it turns to ice or slush.

      I hope Daniel's A Levels go well.

Our snow has turned to ice and slush now. I'm keen for it to go now.
